Functional Nutrition Coaching in Queenstown
Individualised nutrition and lifestyle coaching to support body composition, training, recovery and long-term physical capability.
Practical strategies for how you eat, fuel activity and recover—built around your schedule, preferences and goals. Nutrition is considered alongside strength and conditioning, lifestyle demands and relevant rehabilitation needs, not as a disconnected diet plan.
More Than a Meal Plan.
Food choices matter, but a useful nutrition strategy also needs to work in your actual life.
At Peter’s practice, Functional Nutrition means looking at your current eating patterns, activity, recovery and everyday habits together. The aim is to identify realistic areas for change and create a way of eating you understand and can maintain.
That may mean changing meal structure, making protein intake more consistent, organising food around training, improving hydration or simplifying a busy daily routine. Not everyone needs the same intervention.
Six Areas We May Work On.
These are options to consider, not a compulsory checklist or a claim that everybody needs supplements or a restrictive diet.
Food Quality & Meal Structure
Work with your current eating pattern and develop practical, repeatable meals that suit your preferences and daily schedule.
Fuel for Your Goals
Discuss sufficient food intake and useful protein distribution in the context of training, body-composition goals and recovery.
Performance Nutrition
Consider meal and fluid timing around strength work, conditioning, sport and demanding periods of physical activity.
Sleep & Daily Rhythm
Look at practical meal timing, work patterns and recovery habits that affect the consistency of your programme.
Fluids & Routine
Review hydration habits in the context of activity, the environment and your circumstances rather than prescribing the same target to everyone.
Purposeful Supplement Education
Discuss whether a supplement has a clear role, the quality of evidence, safety and when medical or pharmacist advice is needed.
Built Around What You Want to Achieve.
Your starting point and priorities influence how the nutrition conversation develops.
Muscle & Weight Goals
Build a realistic eating structure to support body-composition changes alongside appropriate training.
Athletes & Active Adults
Coordinate fuelling, hydration and recovery practices with your existing training and activities.
Busy Professionals
Make food decisions simpler with routines for travel, family, work and changing schedules.
Healthy Ageing & Capability
Support nutritional consistency as part of maintaining muscle and physical function over time.
What’s Included in Nutrition Coaching?
The exact level of support is agreed when arranging coaching; these are the components that may be relevant to your goals.
Understand Your Starting Point
Discuss goals, habits, training history, preferences and practical constraints.
Relevant Strategies
Identify food, meal, fuelling and lifestyle adjustments that fit your circumstances.
Ongoing Adjustment
Where ongoing coaching is arranged, review progress and adapt priorities rather than rely on a fixed template.
Training & Recovery Together
Coordinate nutrition and lifestyle discussions with strength, conditioning and rehabilitation-focused work where appropriate.
Beyond Generic Meal Plans.
Nutrition does not exist in isolation—and advice is only useful when you can put it into practice.
Meal structure, food choices, energy intake, training load, sleep and daily habits can be considered together. The aim is not to give everyone the same plan under a different name.
Peter’s broader performance and rehabilitation background helps keep the nutrition conversation connected to what you want your body to do, how you train and the practical demands of life.
For relevant clinical nutrition needs, existing medical instructions take priority and the appropriate clinician remains responsible for diagnosis and treatment.
Explore the Integrated Performance AssessmentUnderstand. Prioritise. Apply. Review.
Start with what is relevant and manageable. A full physical assessment can be valuable when nutrition is integrated with training, but is not presented as a mandatory nutrition test.
Your Situation
Explore goals, current routines, activity and relevant constraints.
Your Priorities
Choose a manageable number of adjustments that fit your needs.
Your Routine
Build practical food and recovery habits for your actual week.
Your Progress
Use relevant feedback to refine the approach when appropriate.
Individualised Coaching. Not Medical Diagnosis.
Here, “functional” describes an individualised approach to nutrition and lifestyle—not a promise to discover or treat a hidden disease.
Nutrition discussions are education- and lifestyle-focused. They do not replace medical nutrition therapy, diagnosis or treatment by a registered dietitian, GP or another appropriately qualified clinician.
If you have significant digestive symptoms, allergies, a diagnosed condition, disordered eating, medication-related dietary requirements or questions about laboratory results, those concerns need appropriate healthcare input. Coaching can complement that advice.
Functional Nutrition in Queenstown
Do I need a strict meal plan?
Not necessarily. Many people benefit from practical changes to meals, food choices and consistency. The approach should fit your goals rather than impose restriction for its own sake.
Can nutrition coaching be combined with personal training?
Yes. Nutrition, physical training and recovery can be considered together so the guidance reflects your actual activity and progression.
Is this a medical or clinical nutrition service?
No. This is nutrition and lifestyle coaching within Peter’s scope of practice. Diagnosis and medical nutrition therapy belong with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Will I need supplements?
Not automatically. Existing nutrition comes first. Any supplement discussion should address its purpose, evidence and safety, including whether clinician or pharmacist advice is appropriate.
Can we discuss body composition and muscle gain?
Yes. Practical food intake, protein, meal structure and training consistency can be discussed in relation to your individual goals.
Can you diagnose deficiencies from my blood tests?
No. Medical interpretation and diagnosis belong with an appropriate clinician. Coaching can take into account dietary instructions provided by your healthcare professional.
Is the free consultation the same as a nutrition assessment?
No. The complimentary consultation is a 30-minute introductory conversation. More detailed coaching and any comprehensive physical assessment are arranged separately as appropriate.
Where does coaching take place?
Peter’s private practice is in the Lake Hayes area of Queenstown. Enquire first to confirm the appropriate appointment arrangements.
